Raised feral by a family of gardeners and naturalists in West Wales, Ian has had a keen interest in all things botanical from a very young age. His early, mottled career however began with a bohemian stint in the arts, followed by a lengthy period working in substance misuse/criminal justice services.
He returned to education later in life to complete a BSc (Hons) Wildlife & Plant Biology, which allowed him to connect with his beloved plants on a much deeper level. He committed the latter part of his studies (and beyond) to, amongst other things, an obsession with ferns, environmental conditions, and plant adaptations.
Ian is a naturally skilled botanist, who takes a strange delight in not knowing everything and finding more out.
